STAMPING WITH HOLLY HOBBIE IMAGES

Hello again,

As a design team crafter, I often have to update my skill set with new products. It appeals to me because I enjoy the process of getting something wrong and then teaching myself how to make it better.

I have enjoyed colouring since childhood however I wouldn’t say that I am a natural. I still don’t really understand about light and shade although I am improving.

The card above was a real labour of love. I was determined to make the best job I could of this imagery. I owed it to the artist. Fun fact – Denise Holly Ulinskas married Douglas Hobbie and created the character from her middle name and surname. I printed off a large scale photo of the original picture, and spent hours one wet and windy Saturday, painstakingly following the colours and shading. I should also add that these are stamps which I inked up in brown because I wanted a vintage look

(This was my first time using the Ink Lily range of pens). I watched a small part of the tutorial but mostly I used my intuition. https://tidd.ly/3ceLUHn

I had such a wonderfully distracting time that I carried on and repeated the process a few more times. These samples were sent to TV but were barely seen on air but at least I had the satisfaction in improving my colouring skills and creating some truly unique handmade cards.

Until next time

You might still be able to purchase these stamps directly from Kanban Crafts. It is a good idea to email them directly or call their customer service department.

HOLLY HOBBIE – TRUE BLUE

Hello again,

I think this is the crafting collection I have been waiting years for. It features the original “Authentic” blue imagery of Holly Hobbie. I cannot begin to express the joy I found in crafting with this nostalgic collection.

When you have images as good as these – all you need to do is to make a neat and simple layout. Having gingham paper helps!

Even the cover of the card pack was good enough to make into a card. I just added a central topper to hide the wording.

One of the best bits of this kit are the paper ribbons because you can use them to make your own patchwork patterns.

I could wax lyrical about these cards for ages because I really enjoyed working with everything. It transported me back to childhood days. Watching the Waltons and Little House on the Prairie. I think all the crafters out there agreed with me, because this Authentic collection sold out very quickly on Create and Craft TV. It is almost a collectors item now.

GARDEN MEMORIES FROM KANBAN CRAFTS

Hello again,

I am really the type of paper crafter who is inspired by the papers in front of me but every now and then I get to work with a USB. The Garden Memories collection is full of imagery from previous Kanban Crafts collections which means you can now mix and match the parts you want.

I enjoyed browsing through the various files and printing just what I needed. Every so often I printed them in the wrong size but I used this to my advantage by creating different sized layers on my cards. The big advantage of using a USB is that you can print off the right number of pages that you need and you can re-size images to suit your needs.

I also made a couple of fancy fold cards including the diamond easel card. If you have not seen this style before then take a look at my YouTube tutorial. It is for a different collection but you can easily adapt it.

The Garden Memories USB is still available to purchase directly from Kanban Crafts https://www.kanbancrafts.com/Digital/cd-roms-and-usbs/garden-memories-usb.html
