Mulberry Blooms from The Hobby House

Hello again.

The Hobby House are launching their first ever set of cutting dies this weekend on Create and Craft. The Cherry Blossom dies, handmade Thai Mulberry Paper and Stamens will allow you to make blossoms that replicate the very popular Hobby House flowers. This means that you can make flowers to match your projects whenever you like. In addition you can adapt the flowers to create other flowers that resemble primulas and hellebores – to name just two.

Here are just a few of the cards you can be making incorporating your handmade Mulberry Blooms. I have created these cards with the rich pearlescent papers and polka dot papers which will also be available on Sunday’s shows. Thank you to my crafting friend Moira Yakova who sent me a stunning Easel Hat card which so inspired me to make the Easter bonnet.

Because this is something a little different for The Hobby House I have made a video to show how to put the Cherry Blossoms together along with a few inking techniques to colour the handmade Thai Mulberry paper. You can also see more of my card samples where I have coloured and handmade every single flower.

If you love the traditional Mulberry Cherry Blossoms from The Hobby House – you are going to love this collection because now you can make your own whenever you like. My top tip would be to stock up on the Mulberry paper because the flower making becomes a little bit addictive.

Until next time

Sentiments – all in one go….

Hello again

You may think that talking about sentiments for cards is a little bit basic but they are an integral part of most cards. The beauty of these new dies from Lisa Horton Crafts is the ability to stamp and die cut all your sentiments in just one pass of your die cutting machine.

These cards showcase the Banner sentiments but also in this range which is launching officially on Create and Craft on Friday 26th March are the Vertical Sentiments stamps and dies https://tidd.ly/3ciEC5w

Banner Sentiment Stamps and Dies https://tidd.ly/39fZd8G

I made this slimline card using the very popular Sunflower stamp and sentiment set and wanted to add some banners to complete the look. Imagine having all your sentiments good to go because with three passes through the machine I had cut 36 sentiments in three shades of yellow and orange. It makes card making quick and easy.

Peony Blooms https://thatcraftplace.co.uk/collections/lisa-horton-crafts-stamps-1/products/set-of-3-floral-die-stamp-combo-sets

I created this card by adding three shades of blue card stock to a piece of sticky backed plastic before stamping over them all with the stunning and large Peony Bloom stamp. All that was needed to finish the card off were two of the Banners.

This simple rocker card is made with the Nested Tattered Edge Circle dies and again easily finished off with the Banners. My little tip is to try stamping the sentiments with two or three shades of the same colour to give an ombre effect.

I couldn’t resist making another sunflower card with the first ever 3D Embossing Folder/Die . Using products like this you can make simple and beautiful cards which have the perfect finish every time.

These sentiment dies and stamps are launching alongside Set 3 of the Embossing Folders but if you watch carefully you will see that there is something very special about them. I suspect the launch shows will be incredibly busy. I have added these folders to my basket and I will be back soon when I have had a play with them

Bluebells and Buttercups

Hello again

Today I would like to transport you into the wonderful world of Helz Cuppleditch and the spring collection from Craft Consortium. I worked on these card samples during the really grey and windy days of winter, and the images immediately lifted my spirits, because they are full of signs of Spring.

This adorable collection was finally launched on Create and Craft on 20th March 2021 which coincidentally was the start of Spring. The best way to see this collection is to watch my video

“Because I’m HAPPY”

Hello again

I am HAPPY to be back with you and sharing a set of great new cutting dies from Lisa Horton Crafts which are due for release at the beginning of March 2021.

There are three different Layered Word Sets which include AMAZING, BIRTHDAY AND HAPPY. I made samples using the HAPPY set. Within the word happy there are in fact three layers so you can imagine how many different variations you can make with them. The birthday which looks stencilled is also a cutting die which you can use on its own. Alternatively layer it up onto the rectangle or use it to cut into the rectangle. On the card below I lined up the central happy repeatedly and cut into a piece of white card stock. Then I laid the rainbow papers behind and sandwiched them between the front and the back of the card.

Father’s Day Card – Mini Doily Cutting dies https://tidd.ly/3tM2pRg

In this card Happy uses the top and middle layers of dies. To make the background, I simply laid all the Doily dies around the piece of blue cardstock which I sent through the Big Shot in one pass before layering it up onto black glitter cardstock.

Choose Happy.. Nested Heart Dies https://tidd.ly/3lO6OQW

Nested Torn Edge Circle Dies https://tidd.ly/3lSg5aD

The Happy on this card uses all three of the layers of dies. Can you see how you can achieve different looks? I placed one of the smaller heart dies centrally in the circle die and cut it several times from white cardstock and glued them together. Next I placed the shape onto a circle of orange cardstock, added wet glue and carefully covered it with Mermaid Tails.

The next three cards show how you can use the dies to cut into patterned or stamped cardstock. You can also used the shaped nested dies to cut into and change the share of the base card.

This card uses the shaped dies in a different way again because I created an eclipsed type of effect with the x and o of the stitched alphabet dies to represent hugs and kisses before randomly adding some red hearts.

This final card was made in response to a design team challenge set by Lisa Robson. We had to make animals using the shaped dies. Can you see how I put together my Easter Chick?

HOBBY HOUSE SPRING SELECTION BOX

Hello again,

It has been sometime since I was asked to make some samples for the team at The Hobby House. I was delighted when they asked me to work on their Spring Selection Box which launches on Create and Craft TV on Sunday 7th March 2021. This box set is really useful for Easter projects.

This is a really good value box. Over the weekend I managed to make over 30 projects as samples for the shows. These are a few of my favourite cards.

I also adapted the numerous boxes included in the box to make a few different gifts. In the time since I worked with The Hobby House my die cutting collection has grown and I enjoyed trying out some of my more up to date dies and stamps with these papers and embellishments.

To see the entire selection box (contents may vary) and the many samples I put together – take a look at my YouTube video
